Helping Louisville's Homeless One Care Package At a Time
Welcome to my page!
Hi! My name is Lindsay Sturgeon and I am involved in many activities inside and outside of Pres; my favorite activity is playing field hockey. I am passionate about helping others and making sure that everyone around me is able to meet their basic needs.
Throughout my life I have realized that if there is one thing every human has in common, it’s that we all have the same basic needs. Based on this realization, I decided to create a project that involves making care packages for the homeless men and women of our city. I have been working with mentors and local organizations, such as Louisville Water Company and UofL School of Dentistry, that are helping me make the care packages everything I want them to be. My goal is for every care packages to include personal hygiene products, cold weather clothing, blankets, snacks, and a reusable water bottle. On a personal level, I hope to gain the sense of “I helped change someone’s life”, whether it’s a big or small impact.
I have two goals, one concrete and one abstract, that I hope to achieve through my SIP project. I want to physically create and distribute at least 100 care packages. While the care packages do matter, and the more I can create the better, I want to have an amazing “end product” emotionally as well. I hope this project makes someone’s day/life better and easier. I hope it lets the people who receive the care packages know that someone does care and someone does want to help make a change, one care package at a time.
