Hi! My name is Meghan Dant. I am 17 and I am a volleyball player. I am very passionate about American Sign Language (ASL) and the signing culture. I’ve been very interested in ASL since I was young. I have tried to learn ASL in the past, but SIP has given me the motivation to stick with it. I am so excited and motivated by this opportunity!
My major SIP goals are to grow in my ability to sign, use my skills to sign the national anthem at my senior night on October 17th, and to be fluent enough to sign at the Pres Class of 2020's baccalaureate mass. I am taking ASL courses online to build my signing skills and prepare to sign at school events. Part of my SIP project is to get involved with the hearing-impaired community of Louisville. I am working with a local school and various organizations to learn more ASL and more about the signing culture. I hope to be fluent in the language by the end of the school year.
